It’s clear that the world witnessed a highly accelerated rate of digitalization in the last year or so. We saw a shift to newer, more agile, and more resilient, remote-friendly environments and faster adoption of “digital” processes almost overnight. How much will we return to “business as usual”? How have energy companies and utilities adapted, and what could be next?
Utilities that started digital programs before COVID-19 hit, have been more resilient. In the upcoming months many will need to reconsider their technology priorities to be able to reduce O&M costs. And this can be done by using analytics to create risk profiles that generate improved asset-maintenance cycles.

David Huber serves as Advisory Solutions Consultant for Hitachi Vantara and is responsible for design and value delivery of Asset Performance Management solutions. Huber has nearly 20 years of Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering leadership in heavy industry.
