David W. Viel, CEO
David W. Viel, Ph.D. is the founder and CEO of Cognoscenti Systems, LLC. He has extensive experience in research and development of mission critical systems in a wide variety of fields including military control systems, space, modeling and simulation, computer languages, telecommunications, and distributed systems. He also has led a number of teams in the development mission critical systems. The previous eight years were spent on research and development of cybersecurity systems at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab where he invented novel technology for securing controls against network attack for military applications. He then spun off the technology into a startup to make it available to the commercial market. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the College of William and Mary.
